Professor Jacque Lambiase

A couple of weeks ago, we had a guest speaker, Professor J. Lambiase, speak to us on stereotyping. We talked about different stereotypes such as nerds and other things that we would associate with them. Sometimes the stereotype fits but most of the time it is totally wrong. I have know people who go with the phrase "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck." In today's world, this really does not apply. Just because someone wears his pants a certain way or a certain hair style does not make him or her that person. Some people have a certain style, but have totally different characteristics. I guess it depends on that persons style choice and what that person wants to wear. Some people have to dress a certain way because he/she cannot afford the name brand clothes or shoes. In today's society, the best phrase to go by is "Don't judge a book by its cover."

Professor Brian O'Connor

The other day in class we had a guest speaker named Professor O'Connor. He was one of the best guest speakers I've had the honor of listening to. He told great stories and showed us some really great short films that he made over 20 years ago. He got emotional as he told some of his stories and that just shows you how much the things he was doing then really meant to him. I just wanted to say that and hopefully we get to have him again some time in the future.
